ESL program has 8 levels of study. Level 1 is an introductory level and level 8 prepares students for academic study. Upon arrival students take a TOEIC placement test to determine the appropriate level for their English knowledge.
Usually the ESL program consists of 20 hours of classroom work (reading, writing, grammar and speaking & listening), 2 hours of lab work and 3 hours of a living language (cultural/special projects) per week.

 IH Vancouver's regular curriculum consists of courses in the 4 major language areas; Grammar, Reading and Vocabulary, Listening and Pronunciation, and Conversation. Each of these classes utilizes a wide variety of textbooks, audio, and visual materials. Each of IH Vancouver's regular classes are 1.25 hours long. In addition to the regular curriculum, students can choose courses from a variety of Test Preparation or Specialized Courses. Every month the college offers TOEFL, TOEIC, Cambridge (FCE, CAE, CPE), Advanced Listening and Speaking, English for Academic Purposes and Business English. Each of IH Vancouver's Test Preparation or Specialized Courses are 2.5 hours long. |
